      <description>You should note that crypt is merely scrambling the password. :)&lt;BR /&gt;For real purposes You'll need to install the HP-UX kernel random number generator and use openssl.</description>

      <description>Actually the crypt command has nothing to do with the crypt() function -- which is used to hash the password. The crypt() function is not actually encryption because the process is not reversible. The crypt command does actually encrypt and decrypt. Having said that, the crypt command offers modest security and there are much better alternatives available now but crypt is standard across UNIX platforms.</description>
