Ignite is hp-ux product. It has nothing to do with linix/solaris. So what you are thinking is not possible.

All

Is it possible to create an ignite server image on a laptop, either linux or windows, and then connect the laptop into the primary network port and boot off the laptop as an ignite server. A little bit like the concept of using a solaris jumpstart server.

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated

Unfortunately, there is no version of Ignite for either Linix or Windows, so I am afraid what you are proposing is not possible.

John,
Ignite is hpux only.
Here you can find a valid alternative for Linux and Windows:

http://www.mondorescue.org/

Regards,
Alex
