It got there when you installed the OS.

You should be able to copy it in from another machine.

The real question is how did it disappear. Is the hardware okay? Is the filesystem corrupt? Look for a cause after you set things right.

You can also recover it from a make_tape_recovery backup, which you should be doing periodically.

SEP

I could not find the /sbin/init.d/nfs.client on my HP 11i machine. Do you know why and how I get it there? The missing caused automount can not startup at the boot time. Thank you.

It's a part of NFS product (do swlist NFS, see that you have NFS.NFS-CLIENT fileset).Probably the file is removed by mistake? You've there nfs.server file?

Basically,if its only one system script you can copy it from other server, just check that no patches had affected its contains...

The problem is we are not the one installed the OS. Somebody did it and now it turned over to us. There is no nfs.client, but I found the no.nfs.client there. I guess somehow they moved nfs.client to no.nfs.client (really don't know why) since this file is exactly the same as nfs.client on another machine. Thanks for your suggestions.

I would suggest you inventory the system and see whats missing.

If the missing items are substantial, consdier reinstalling the OS.

Perhaps start here:

swverify \*

If there is a lot of trouble there, you might be better off with afresh install.

The real hard part is how long will it take to get your applications back on. If the boxes were just transferred to you without applications, I'd do a fresh install or use one of my Ignite images.

SEP
