In CDE file manager and text editor are very slow.

I have already patched my CDE.
I have checked my hosts, resolv.conf and nsswitch.conf files. (They are the same as my other machines that don't have any problems)

What's wrong with my CDE?
Performace of CDE depends upon how loaded the system is.

If the UNix system has good load then response will be very slow.

Francois,

You may want to check if any of the directories in your file manager are NFS mounts. This can drastically slow down even a command-line ll, if NFS is not configured properly. I shudder to think what it would do under a GUI.

Regards,
Mark

Hello everybody,

Sorry for late reply.

The filesystems I access are not on an nfs partition. The problem is the same on NFS or on local disk.

I patch with the latest patch for CDE.

Automount is running.

regards.
