topic changing a mount point option while file system is mounted in Operating System - HP-UX

Hi,

Was wondering if it is possible to change a mount point option in /etc/fstab and apply some kind of re-mount so the mount point picks up that new option. Instead of having to update /etc/fstab, unmount and remount

Thanks
Achille

You can change the mount options for a mounted file system using the -o remount option of the mount command. remount option can change the logging and caching policies and also can change a file system from read-only to read/write but not vice verca.

for example

mount -o remount,rw /mount_point makes this file system rw if it is ro. This is done online so no need to interrupt applications accessing this fs to umount&mount.
