root account disabled

Hi..
while i am trying to login through root ..
its giving error as below..
login: root
Password:
Account is disabled - see Account Administrator

is there any way to enable it?
will single usermode will work?
can i enable root passwd throu; single user mode??
waiting for replies...

Hi,

Even when the account is disabled - root can still login from the console - only.

Login on the console - no need to go to single user mode.

Once successful login on console, the root account will be unlocked

If you have access to the console, you can log on as root there.

Other option - is sudo installed and can you sudo su - to root? If so, then you can rectivate the account that way

in either case modprpw -k root will reactivate the account once you are logged on.

Hi,

If physical access to console is not available then you can use MP/GSP for console login.

Hi,

You can enable root account again easily. Logon the system through MP (management processor) and type the following command:

/usr/lbin/modprpw -k root

As the others mentioned there seems 2 solutions;

logon to system from GSP,console or
modprpw -k root

I have the same problem, I can access from qsys, this user can't do any changes, what can I do?
