Log on the console as root.

shutdown -hy now

That will shut it down.

If you are running npar/vpars additional steps required.

Log on GSP to finish the shutdown.

to reboot a npar: shutdown -ry now
to shutdown a npar: shutdown -hy now

It is pretty normal to shut things down in the opposite order of the way everything comes up.
Shut down all applications,
Shut down all databases,
If this a power down,
shut down all vPars and nPars using
shutdwon -h 0
Once all operating systems are halted you can power off the Superdome.

Hi,

The only difference in shutting down a superdome and any other server will be to shut all its vpar/Npar's first and then in the end the complete cabinet wither manually or through ps command.

Also shutdown all Vpar/Npars from the MP/GSP or serial console so that you can see all messages.

Also after shuting down the cabinet if there is some power testing /changes put down the breakers from the back of the servers.

I wonder Amit must be considerate to "power off" the superdome cabinet, here's the steps.

1. stop all your applications and databases on each npar/vpar in your superdome
2. shutdown your npar/vpar os by ' shutdown -h now'
3. telnet/connect to your GSP, and go to MA->PE then choose to power off the cells. Beware, if you power off the chassis before you power off the cell board, any cell board attach to the chassis will be reset and reboot.
4. after power off all cells, then you can power down the cabinet, which will be 0 or 1.
5. after power down your cabinet, then go to the back side, and switch off the circuit breaker
