When you convert to shadow password, check the password details.

passwd -a

Are there any problems with accounts?? Also, if more than 8 chars password, just use 8 chars only.

I have installed the shadow passowrd bundle:
/depot/nonstd/ShadowPW.11i and the patch bundle /depot/patches/11x/11.11/2005_6_jun

I have enabled shadow password using pwconv. The shadow password file has been created and appers to be OK. Now users cannot login. The /etc/default/security file has also been installed.
I have since used pwunconv to convert back and all is OK.
Any ideas as to what I am missing? Do I need to reboot after using pwconv?
This is a non-truted system.

Don't mix trusted and shadow passwords. The two products in different ways do the same thing.

There should be syslog messages in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log to tell you why users can not log off after you use pwconv

That will help with the next step.

I do not believe a boot is required after pwconv

SEP

Please check the installation with swverify - I remember having some problems until it turned out the software wasn't completely configured.

after that and some more hassle, I've been running it for over a year now :)
