Is there a way for a user to use any of these printing utilities without having root access?

You can use the sudo utility.

Hi Steve,

Since HPPI or JetAdmin can be accessed thru SAM. So I refer you to give a privelage to the user to using SAM on particular area.

So at this issue, just give the user to have privelage at SAM on 'Printers and Plotters' area.

Just execute the command below to give a privelage on the user :

# sam -r
