    <description>root@hostname # tar tvf /dev/rmt/0mn &lt;BR /&gt;Tar: blocksize = 4 &lt;BR /&gt;directory checksum error&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This could be a bad tape or it could be that this tape was used in a non-HP server... wrong blocksize.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you &lt;BR /&gt;  # tar -cvf /dev/rmt/0m /sbin &lt;BR /&gt;and then &lt;BR /&gt;  # tar -tvf /dev/rmt/0m &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Does it work?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If not, use a different tape. If it does, it was a blocksize issue.</description>

      <description>Hi !!&lt;BR /&gt;could you tell me what is the meanning of bocksize in next output and what is "directory checksum error"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;root@hostname # tar tvf /dev/rmt/0mn &lt;BR /&gt;Tar: blocksize = 4                  &lt;BR /&gt;directory checksum error            &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;how do i know how i must redirect the device in tar commnad? /dev/rmt/0m?? /dev/rmt/0mn?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;how can i know what is device file to tape?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;sometimes i can read the tape but anothers not&lt;BR /&gt;what could be?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thanks, Manuales.</description>

      <description>You need to skip over the boot header file before you can list the contents of the tape:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;mt -t /dev/rmt/0m rew&lt;BR /&gt;mt -t /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1&lt;BR /&gt;tar -tvf /dev/rmt/0mn&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Pete</description>
