I have already done all of this, but thank you. The problem now is that when X-Windows tries to start up, it gets stuck in an infinite loop. I'm suspicous of my network settings, so that is the next thing I will try.

I have an Integrity rx1620 machine. This machine is brand new, but I am using a hard drive that was taken out of an Integrity rx2620. I put the hard drive in port 1 and configured it (via EFI) to be the boot drive. When I try to boot off it, it gets to a certain point, and then it gets stuck in a loop when it tries to start up the X-Windows system. It displays the blue and white "Hp Invent" screen over and over again. On the serial console, I can see it get to the command:

Launching /stand/vmunix

and then that is when it gets stuck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

In order to avoid problem on account of graphics card driver in-compatibility, try to use serial port as console device.

You can set the active console settings ( output, input , error ) to either MP serial port or Serial A/Serial 1 port in the " Boot Maintenance Menu" . Ensure proper communication settings for the port ( baud rate etc ) and connect a dumb terminal or hyper terminal through laptop to monitor bootup process.
Refer the doc at
http://docs.hp.com/en/AB430-96005/ch04s04.html?btnNext=next%A0%BB
