Fibre channel errors

HP Partitioned rp7410 Server...
I am seeing async write errors from just one fibre card P/N A6795-62001 going to a HP7000 Virtual Array ..I have replace the fibre channel card but still see errors..
please help!
I do see that the EFI version on the card that was just replaced is 00000, but that wouldn't cause the problem, would it?

errno = 126 (EPOWERF) means the SCSI driver could not complete the
read/write requests within specified
timeouts.

The device in question can be found using:

dev: b 31 0x080100

ll /dev/dsk | grep 080100

I would update your fibre channel patches and if that doesn't help, have HP hardware check out the above disk.

The disk is actually a virtual array...The array controller shows no problems with any of the disks within the array..and none of the other fibre cards are having any problem writing to the virtual array...

I will look into updating the patches for the fibre card though..

The ITRC doc id is KBQA00000539.

The EFI version "00000" is not good.

The drivers are the correct version for this machine....

I will have to wait to update the EFI version until next month

It looks like I need to update the firmware from 2.2 to 2.3 for the bad fibre card...

Also notice the 960 maximum frame size (for the bad card)- it's 2048 on all of the other cards.

Does anyone have the steps to do this?

The patch you need is PHSS_28509. the latest patch in that category is PHSS_31326.

Hi,

You do need a firmware upgrade for the card that is having problem, You may not need that patch since you have another card on the system that is at Chip revision 2.3 and supports frame size of 2048.

look at your fcmsutil output for the two cards.

for /dev/td0,
XL2 Chip Revision No is = 2.2

& for /dev/td1,
XL2 Chip Revision No is = 2.3

How do I upgrade to the correct firmware version of 2.3 on the card...I will work on the EFI version later...

this may need a reboot.

Talk to HP support before you decide to update the patch. They would guide you in the right direction.
