Manuales,

EMS comes for free.

Various products come with monitoring capability. The list is here:
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/ems/emd_summ.htm

The way it works is that you configure some resources to be monitored and then event messages get generated whenever something needs to be reported by the product.

Clicking on any link within the page above provides information on how to configure each monitor.

A quick ref guide and user guide are available here:
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag.html#EMS%20Hardware%20Monitors

Marie.

Hi Manuales ,

HP provides a complete set of support tools for verifying, troubleshooting, and monitoring HP 9000 system hardware, including CPUs, memory, interface cards, mass storage devices, etc.

Most of the support tools are available free over the Web.

EMS is Event Monitoring service., and pretty good tool. It even emails your for any error or hardware failures .

You can check this link for details:

http://docs.hp.com/en/diag.html

cheers,
Raj
Manuales,

You should have it on your system already

You can access one part of it via the command monconfig (you may need to look for it, if it is not in your path)

you can access another part of it via sam

sam --> resource management --> event monitoring service

It is used to monitor the health of the system, and give you alerts if a parameter is exceeded. i.e. a mount point is too full or a drive is experiencing problems or a memory chip goes bad.

Hi Manuales:

EMS Hardware monitoring is available for 11.0 and later releases. It is bundled on the Support Plus CD under "Online Diags". I believe that you must order the appropriate Support Plus media from SUM since thie OnlineDiag bundle is not available for download.

http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/releaseIndexPage.do?BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|patch.breadcrumb.bundle|

Regards!

...JRF...

Manuales,
The EMS Hardware Monitors are included on the Support Plus CD, and run on all supported releases of HP-UX, and are normally installed with the OS. The links supplied by others above should tell you what they do. The package also includes STM.

They ARE available via download from http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6
191AAE

You can also go to http://www.software.hp.com and then type "B6191AAE" in the search box.

To see the latest release, see http://www.docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm#table .

It is also advisable to install the latest patch for the release you have installed.

Andrew
