no NFS?? do you have problems with respect to disk, file system??
bdf might be hung process waiting on i/o, so you can not kill it.

syslog.log and dmesg to to check other details.

If bdf hangs it is no point trying to kill
it, as there will be an underlying reason
at filesystem level.
Best to close the session.

bdf is dependent on df -k and that is dependent on filesystems availability.

What does ioscan -fnC disk do ?
Check dmesg
and the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
(just in case)
also check sar -d 5 55

Does it re-occur or is it a one off ?
Sometimes it can be that some
filesystem is to busy (see sar -d 5 55)
but eventually this bottleneck should
be freed up. Unless there is looping
process doing i/o

After this troubleshooting you will know
which direction to go.

good luck

# ioscan -fnC disk

Check the status in ioscan result. Also, check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for any error messages.

-Arun

Post the ps -ef | grep bdf process output. May be you can not kill when PPID is equal to 1. It is expecting some I/O. Just stop that session. Restart new one.

-Muthu

Hi,

There is nothing to worry in it. I also have faced this problem atleast 2-3 times in last year or so. The very simple thing I do is

#mount -a

HTH,
Devender
