sendmail problem

I found the sendmail daemon have problem , if I send the mail to my mail box via sendmail is very slow , and it takes about 5 minutes to stop/start this daemon , ( i think it only need a few seconds to complete it ), could suggest what is wrong ? thx.

First of all, Is it 11.11 or 11.23 ? What is your patch level ? Do you have PHNE_29774 installed ? Check sendmail log file for more information.

Also, try to assign points to your questions, as it helps people to answer you.(0 of 60 right now, make it 60/60 )

which os your are using it? Is there any error message in log file?

Do you mean that,

/sbin/init.d/sendmail start

is taking more time? Post which sendmail version you are using there.

mail sending is slow then there may be a chance to hostname resolvation and routing too.

I think your host name is not binding with your sendmail deamon try to find that the hosty naME is porerly assine
