netstat -rn returned with no default address. So, I manually added it with the route add command.

One more Q: I looked in the netconf file and noticed that the DG is listed, however is not in quotations. Is this necessary before it is recongnized upon bootup?

Thank you for your help.

Don

Hello,

I set my default gateway address in the netconf file, but my packets can't get out of the subnet. I can ping myself and the router, but nothing on the other side. The router is fine because I can ping across with other devices on the same subnet. Is there another location to set the default gateway address?

Hi Don

Can you send us a "netstat -rn" output to look at? That may shed some light on your problem.

JLS

Hi Don

netstat -nr will tell you what it is set , not set to . If set to a wrong one do a route delete that path . Temp you can set it as

route add default a.b.c.d 1

do a man route to get more info.

Manoj Srivastava

Hi Don

Quotes are not necessary.

Did you check your /etc/rc.log file to see if there were any error messages from the net config script?

JLS

Hi Don,

Have you looked at the lanadmin, linkloop and
arp commands?

They are very helpful for debugging network
problems.

In the /etc/hpgsc100conf you say what interface
card you are using.

Did you setup your /etc/resolv.conf file with
your DSN server(s)?

Laurie
