topic Oracle Apps PA-RISC/Itanium split configuration problems in Operating System - HP-UX

I'm hoping that someone out there has had this problem and might be able to help.

We are running Oracle Applications 11.5.10.2 on a PA-RISC (11.23) machine. The database for the applications is running on an Itanium (also 11.23) machine using oracle 9.2.0.6.

We're having a problem where the applications seem to run successfully for a few minutes. But after a few users click around the website, we get a java process that chews up the CPU and has to be killed. Afterwards, when someone connects, apache starts the process back up, people can navigate the website for a few minutes, and then the process runs away again.

This is the process:
appsbst 27456 10725 0 09:20:02 ? 2:36 /opt/java1.4/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -DCLIENT_PROCESSID=27456 -verbose:gc -hotspot -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -XX:MaxPermSize=512M -XX:

The version of java on the RISC machine is:
T1456AA 1.4.2.10.00 Java2 1.4 SDK for HP-UX
T1456AAaddon 1.4.2.10.00 Java2 1.4 SDK -AA addon for HP-UX

I would be happier if the applications didn't work at all at this point.
Oracle support hasn't been able to help much at this point. I tend to believe it is a bug in the applications that sends the java process off and running.

Definitely understand its near impossible to diagnose with the little info I can give, but I'm writing this up on the off chance someone has seen this before.

Thanks in advance.
