Configuring LAN card in SAM

Good morning. I am trying to save the configuration for our NIC card and it seems to take but when I go back into the settings it reverts back to the original. Currently it is:

card type=fast ethernet
autoneg=on
speed=100
duplex mode=half

trying to change to

off
100
full

If you have any insight on why this is happening let me know.

To change the network card setting permanently, edit the /etc/rc.config.d/hpbase100conf file or the /etc/rc.config.d/hpgsc100conf file and add the required parameters. Which file you modity depends on the NIC card. The documentation is in the files.

I can't tell you for sure, but here are some more things to look at:
Check the cable and the network connection is capable of full duplex
Config the card by hand and see if it takes.

Jeff, you shouldn't have the duplex setting anymore, that is an old configuration file.

driver /etc/rc.config.d/

btlan0 hpeisabtconf

btlan hpbtlanconf

btlan1 hpbasetconf

btlan3 hpbase100conf

btlan4 hpgsc100conf

btlan5 hppci100conf

btlan6 hpsppci100conf

1. Ensure you have the latest cumulative patch for your 100BaseT card.

2. Copy the configuration file from /usr/newconfig/etc/rc.config.d/hp#####conf to /etc/rc.config.d

example with PCI card:

#/mv /etc/rc.config.d/hpbase100conf /tmp/hpbase100conf.old

#cp /usr/newconfig/etc/rc.config.d/hpbase100conf /etc/rc.config.d

3. Modify the file by setting the startup variables

HP-BASE100_INTERFACE_NAME[#]=lan0
(leave the station address blank)
HP_BASE100_SPEED[#]=100FD (where # is the interface index)

4. Launch the start up script manually by issuing start from the startup script

#/sbin/rc2.d/S323hpbase100 start

5. Confirm autonegotiation is off with lanadmin command

#lanadmin -x

If you specify the speed and the duplex type, then there is no need for an autoneg variable.

remember to restart the net with

/sbin/init.d/net stop ; /sbin/init.d/net start

after you have made the changes to the /etc/rc.config.d/hpgsc100conf file
