I need help in getting an HP Visualize-EG
A4450A card to work with a P910 Console. Instructions refer to "owners manual" which I did not receive with equipment.

You can find the Users Guide for the monitor at this location:
http://www.monitor.support.hp.com/monitorsupport/level4/6mmb132en.pdf.html

Thanks for your reply. However, that is use on monitor itself. I wanted instructions on assigning the monitor port and where to find the driver that needs entering in the kernel.

I got the port assignment and it connected the monitor, but crashed the op system. I think I need to make a change to the kernel, but don't know what.

Try looking at the following document: KBRC00000160
http://us-support2.external.hp.com/cki/bin/doc.pl/

If the machine you are adding this monitor & card to is a Dxxx then the following might help.
There is no MONITOR command in the PDC (BOOT_ADMIN); therefore, only a
1280x1024 @ 75Hz monitor (such as the A4330/1) will work. The A4032/3
monitors will also work, provided that a 5-BNC (RGBHV) cable (C2729-60015)
is used.

Good Luck,
Brian
<*(((>< er
OK, now I have an idea where you stuck at. I assume that the driver is missing in the kernel. I attached a cookbook how to install an A4450A as a graphic console in a D-Class system. With a few minor changes you can use it for a K-Class, too.

If this does not help I would like to ask you to provide us some more information about your configuration. In which kind of system do you want to install the interface, and what OS revision is it running at?
Dear Uncle Sam,

How do you know it crashed the operating system? Is the UNIX system on a network ? If so you can telnet in and make any changes that need to be made.

I suggest using SAM to see what the configuration of of the Monitor and Xserver.
SAM->Display->Monitor Configuration
Select the card, Actions->Modify Monitor Type

Hope this helps! Good Luck!
