You cannot do a lan boot for the restore. Put the tape in the drive, boot the box, interrupt the boot at the ISL and point to the tape drive as the alternate boot device and boot from the tape.

mark
Hi Ankur,

Please make sure that you are using the correct IP Addess of the ignite server. If you have multiple ignite servers in the same subnet you have boot thru the correct ignite server in which the image for the client is available.

you may boot using,

boot lan.147.128.43.12 install

(assuming the ignite server IP is the above)

at BCH/PDC

Regards,

Siva.

Very thanks for all ur support. The problem is , how can we see the images that are ther on the ignite backup server. We can only see hpux 11.0 an hpux 11i OS's to install.
We want that we should be able to select the ignite images to be restored on the client server. Why is it not possible, Is it that we cant restore image of one server on to the other server.

rgds
Ankur

1) Create a directory for the target client in /var/opt/ignite/clients on the Ignite server if one doesn't already exist. The directory should have the target's MAC address as it's name. A symbolic link should be created with the client's host name:

mkdir /var/opt/ignite/clients/0x00306E4B28C9
cd /var/opt/ignite/clients
ln -s 0x00306E4B28C9 <TARGET>

2) Copy the CINDEX and recovery directory from the source to the target client directory. If the target client has previously used make_net_recovery then it will already have a CINDEX file. If the CINDEX file for the client exists, you may want to save a copy, and/or edit the file to add the desired entries from the source client.

Copy the source client directory to the target directory:

cd /var/opt/ignite/clients/

find CINDEX recovery | cpio -pdvma ../<TARGET>

3) Add the target client to the source client's exported image directory in /etc/exports and re-export the directory:

/var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/ -anon=2,access=:<TARGET>

exportfs /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/

Now you should be able to see the souce backup after you boot the target from the LAN.</TARGET></TARGET></TARGET>
