After downloading and running swinstall on patches in the /tmp directory, is it OK to remove the PH**_*****, the PH**_*****.sh and the PH**_*****.text from the /tmp directory, since everything else has been saved to /var/adm/sw/save?
I've used the cleanup -c1, but still have downloaded patches in the /tmp directory I'd like to get rid of, if possible without consequences.

Thanks,

..Joe

Hi Joe,

You bet, blow 'em away.

By convention (and there are of course exceptions) anything in /tmp,/var/tmp, and /usr/tmp may safely be removed.

Regards, Clay
Joe:

Yes, you can remove patch text and depot files from the /tmp directory. In fact, you can option your startup sequence to clean up all files in /tmp.

This is controlled in: '/etc/rc.config.d/clean_tmps'

Regards!

...JRF...

Hi
I agree with the others as well but I also swcopy my patches or any software into a depot so that I can reinstall it if necessary or install it on another server - then blow it away from /tmp

Peggy
