Kernel system parameters

Hi,

Does anybody know if it is possible to view the current usage of the kernel system parameters on the system? In much the same way that kmtune display's the values of the kernel parameters I would like to view the utilisation of all the kernel parameters. I know I can view couple of the parameters using glance, eg semmni etc. The system is running 11.11 so we can't use kcusage. I guess we are looking the equivalent of kcusage for 11.11.

hi michael,

you can also use glance -> system tables (t)

you can view the following parameter usage:
Proc Table (nproc)
File Table (nfile)
Shared Mem Table (shmmni)
Message Table (msgmni)
Semaphore Table (semmni)
File Locks (nflocks)
Pseudo Terminals (npty)
Buffer Headers (nbuf)
Inode Cache (ninode)
Shared Memory
Message Buffers
Buffer Cache
Buffer Cache Min
Buffer Cache Max
DNLC Cache

which parameters are you after, which are not shown by glance?
If glace covers most of your requirement, there may be ways to show the ones that are missing.

I have a 11.11 with kcusage...
I remembered installing for testing (if it is of any use...) kcweb, and inherited of kcalarm kcmond kcusage and the mans...
now Im happy with only using them and forgot all about kcweb...

Hi,

Thanks for your replies. I would like to view all of the kernel parameters. One of the components of an application is crashing intermittently and we would like to view all the system parameters when this happens to ensure none of the parameters are being maxed out.

Victor can you tell me where you got your copy of kcusage for 11.11 from?

Hi,
I got it from HP... its old (2002) and was I suppose a beta version...
I still have the depot file if you want it but I cant put it as attachement because it exceeds 1MB (1.4)
