Hi Raju,

Though you have mentioned ,u are using hyper terminal, you haven't specified whether your workstaion is connected to the console or MP serial port of your machine.

Best is to take a Laptop and hook on to the cosole port of the server Unless otherwise, you have MP lan configured.

See the following PPT to get a better Idea as to connecting to the console.

http://www.parsec.com/public/itaniumconsole.ppt

Since RX2620 uses a W-cable you can also refer the following link... check the detailed post I have given to connect to console.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1005112

Regards,
Senthil Kumar .A

Hi Raju,

Are you using telnet or ssh to login to your server ? Boot into single user mode and reset root's password.

ISL>hpux -is

to enter single user mode.

-Arun

Hi Raju,

Reboot the server & go to single user mode. Then look for any -t file created under /tcb/files/auth/r dir. Like root-t which might caused this kind of scenario. Also check dir permission of /etc /usr /sbin ...

Dip

Hi,

In addition to above views, I would suggest you look at your passwd file if you have any open session.

Or try booting to single user mode. You may have lost your passwd file for some reason.

Best of luck
Shahul
