Netscape Directory Server recent version

Hi all,

I am curious what is the latest version of the Netscape Directory Server? I have downloaded version 7 about 6 months ago, but I find now that the most recent version that I can download is version 6. Why is that? What happened to version 7? Is there any major problems with running version 6 instead?

As far as I know, no major problems. HP does very thorough quality control on these ports since people depend on them.

But what happened to version 7? Why is that no longer available from HP? Or am I looking in the wrong place for it?

Redhat had accquired Netscape directory server some time back and it is no longer known as Netscape directory server and turned into Red Hat Directory Server v7. You can download from,

Netscape Directory Server v 7 is available to hp-ux platform also.

New version is available with name as "Red Hat Directory Server".

So which is the best version to use? Most documentation I have seen for LDAP-UX is for version 6.x of the directory. But RedHat have version 7.1 released. I have downloaded an old version of the directory which is version 7.0, but I can no longer find that version for download. I can only find netscape 6.2 or redhat 7.1.

Which version do you recommend?

Hi Andrew,

You can use the latest version 7.1, which has got many enhancements and bug fixes.

It should be available from http://www.redhat.com/, i couldn't get the download URL since the site is down for scheduled maintenance. You can try later some time.
