sendmail ver. 8.13.3 on hpux 11.00

Hi all,
Is it possible to install sendmail 8.13.3 on hpux 11.00 or am I stucked on 8.11.x because of my 11.00 version?
Do I have to upgrade OS to 11.11 to get 8.13.3?

No, you do not have to upgrade the OS to get Sendmail 8.13.3.

A few options for you:

1) The version released by HP for 11i might install just fine on 11.00. It may be an exception to the normal rule in such situations.

2) You gan get and compile the sendmail source code from http://www.sendmail.org

I think there are a lot of valid reasons to upgrade the OS however. Support is expiring for 11.00 at the end of the year.

Answers as I understand it is no but bear in mind that HP's web offering is an enhanced version of 8.11.1 ie it contains bug fixes and security enhancements not released originally as opensource in the 8.11.1 version see http://www.docs.hp.com/en/5990-6693/ch04s03.html#bgecdijd

Hi Anders,

Sendmail 8.13.3 Special Release Upgrade is available only for 11iV1 and 11iV2. You can't get a depot for 11.0

You may have to check with ITRC patch database for latest patches available for Sendmail.

I would not upgrade the OS merely to get the sendmail release. As noted you can get it from some place else and compile it.

Its worth taking a shot witht the HP depot. It just might work. Back your system up first.

Upgrading is a good idea to maintain support.

HP may have to rethink the issue of releasing 8.13 for 11.00 due to a serious sendmail fault that CERT revealed last week. Apparently with the use of a PGP key malicious code can be executed.
