Integrity VM discussion

Has anyone had to upgrade from Integrity VM version 1.0 to 1.2 yet? Can it be done and keep your existing VM configs?

How about cloning from a VM that is based on a logical volume? I'm going to try it soon, so I'll post my results.

Can hpvmmigrate be done to the same host, in order to move a VM from one storage location to another?

I have done an upgrade on a customer site from 1.0 to 1.2, and it all went smoothly, without "damaging" or removing their configs.

Did you just use swinstall, and let it upgrade the necessary components?

Did you have to remove the old version first?

Hi Thomas,

You don't need to remove the old version.
The guest and guest application will not be affected by the upgrade.

The "hpvmmigrate" is used to migrate VM from a host to another symmetrical host.

No, just halt all VM's first, then use swinstall to install latest version, all upgrades nice and easy, and documented in the Release Notes for version 1.2

So, if hpvmmigrate does not allow migration to different storage on the *same* host, is there a documented (and supported) way to move from:

-lvm to raw disk
-lvm to another lvm (dd?)
-lvm to file
-file to lvm or raw
