We just received 2 new HPUX 11.0 machines and on one of them the OS had to be reinstalled. After reinstall we noticed the aCC compiler is no longer there. It is on the second machine since we haven't touched the OS install on that machine. I was wondering what CD this install comes on or where I could get it. I looked on the OS install CD and some other CDs that came with the machines but haven't been able to find the install for it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Chris Hinnen

Hi Chris,

It is located on your Application CD set but it is codeword locked.

1) Mount the CD
2) swlist -s /cdrom
You should see the compiler listed
If you don't see it umount /cdrom
and insert the next CD in the set and repeat.
3) When you have the correct CD, note the part number, you will need your software certificate, then you can request a codeword online.
4) When you do the swinstal, Choose Actions->Add New CodeWord and you should then be able to mark and install the software.

Clay
This sounds like the right answer to me but it seems I am unable to get a codeword. I was looking at the site where you request the codeword and I see that I don't have a codeword request form. This is not in any of the papers that I received with my 2 HP machines. It seems I must have this in order to get the codeword. Is this correct? Do you know how I may obtain this since I didn't get one or what I can do now to get a codeword?

Chris

Hi Chris,

You need to contact your HP sales rep; you are going to need the documentation for the future.

You should also make sure that you have all the software certificates for the other machine as well. It's very unusual for you to receive none of this; HP is usually very thorough in this regard. As a TEMPORARY workaround, I'll just say look at /var/adm/sw/.codewords on the other machine. You can copy a line from it to machine B.
There is no .codeword file in /var/adm/sw on the other machine. Could this be because the software was installed at the factory and came with the aCC compiler?

Chris
Ok Chris,

Back to plan A; you need to contact HP; you should have something with either a Customer ID or an HP Sales Order Number.

Good Luck, Clay
Thanks. Oh and one other thing. We got these as a Development System Loan from HP so maybe that is why we didn't get any licensing information. Just an idea. I will try and get the person that got us these machines to get with the HP representative to see what we can do.

Chris
