warn80FS error

I booted my k100 system (I know, it's old) and the system booted to a "warn80FS" error on the LED. The console was stopped at a "Main Menu: enter command or menu> " prompt with the "warn80FS" in the lower left corner of the screen. I searched in docs.hp.com and the knowledge base without success, does anyone know what this message means?

Hi Erik:

A front panel display code beginning with '8' is the major category for I/O Device Fault codes for K100/K200/K400.

"80FS" doesn't exist...

I couldn't find anything about warn80FS, but see if it might actually read one of the below:

WARN 80F3 PDC IODC failed to retrieve header information
WARN 80F4 PDC IODC failed to return Entry Init
WARN 80F5 Error executing Entry Init
WARN 80F6 PDC IODC failed to return Entry I/O
WARN 80F7 Error executing Entry IO
WARN 80F8 Invalid device class, must be sequential, random, or tftp
WARN 80F9 PDC IODC failed to return Entry Test
WARN 80FA Error executing Entry Test
WARN 80FC Invalid device (internal PDC structure error)

Hi Eric,

The characters following WARN must be hex digit; I'm guessing 80F5 - error executing entry init.

now that I know the meaning of the code, what would be the best route to take to rectify the problem?
Can I still ignite recover?

If you have a service contract on this machine call the response center and get them to help you. My GUESS would be a hardware problem. The 8*** series faults are I/O Device Fault Codes. Give the RC the fault code and let them help determine the cause. That's why we pay them the big support $$$.

Hello Erik,

Like Mr. Stephenson said, the WARN codes displayed must be in hex and the 80FS is probably 80F5, Error executing Entry Init.

Fisrt, make sure that your boot path is still correctly setup. From the Main Menu, type 'in' (INfo) then 'bi' (BootInfo) and verify the boot path to your root disk.

Second, try booting from a mirror root disk, if you have one. If the system still wont boot and the mirror disk is on the same SCSI card as the primary root disk, then the problem may be further upstream; like the SCSI card common to both of them. If they are on different SCSI cards, then you may have some success here.

If neither works, then try 'sea' (SEArch) from the main menu to see if the system finds any available boot paths.
