This does seem like normal behavior. Especially when changing the comunity names.

Check out Knowledge Base Doc ID KBRC00012590 and UXEMSKBRC00003120

These documents describe what happens when the community name is changed and how to fix it. This falls in line with the characteristics you are seeing.

Hey all,

I use EMS to monitor filesystem sizes to notify me via email when filesystems are getting full. Today I stopped the SNMP services on my system and we started getting messages like this:

"<SYSTEM name=""> sent Event Monitor notification information:

/system/filesystem/availMb/usr is < 100.000000.
Its current value is unknown."

I re-enabled SNMP services and the messages stopped. I then changed the SNMP community string in /etc/SnmpAgent.d/snmpd.conf file, stopped and restarted the SNMP services, and I started getting the messages again. When I changed the community string back to "public" the messages stopped again.

Does this seem like normal behavior for EMS? Is there something that is just eluding me? I'd appreciate any help or information anyone can offer!

Thanks!

Tim</SYSTEM>

Shalom Timothy,

This does seem normal. EMS is not an SNMP based service, but it can work with it. EMS can send email messages as well.

SEP
