Hi,
I´m trying to send a mail when my backup routine presents problems.
Something of the type:
"mailx -s "subject text" daniel.oliveira@primesys.com.br < text_error.txt"
The following error message is showed:
"NIS map mail.aliases specified, but NIS not running
Switch map aliases: unknown member map aliases.dns"
And the message is not sent.
Please, which does anybody know the configurations that I should do? For instance, where I configure the name/IP of the mail server, etc

I use HP-UX 11.0.

Thanks.

Daniel

Shalom Daniel,

Sounds like a good time to check /etc/nsswitch.conf and see if this machine is part of an NIS domain and if so if appropriate servcies are running.

SEP

Mrs,

Is NIS really necessary? If yes, as I do to initialize it?

Tks

Daniel

NIS is NOT necessary.

In /etc/resolve.conf, in addition to the hosts parameter, makes sure that if these parameters are present that they only have "files" and not also "nis":

aliases: files
services: files
sendmailvars: files

You may need to restart the sendmail daemon if you changed any of these.

mark
