system recovery from ignite image

Hi All,

We have this rp4440 server installed HP-UX 11i v2 installed. This is a web application server. There is no DAT drive on the server. This server recovery image is done and stored using the ignite server. I need to take this image and load it in the same type of a machine in another data center. There is no connectivity between the datacenters.

How can I accomplish this?

Can we put the image from the ignite server on a CD and transfer the image on to a network drive in the other datacenter and boot it off of that and recover the image on the new machine?

OR do we have to have ignite server in the new datacenter?

Shalom Rajim,

1) If you made the image with make_tape_recovery just take the tape to the new data center and boot off of it. It appears you used make_net_recovery.

2) If you used make_net_recovery, you will need to take the actual system archive and place it on an Ignite server at the new location, since there is no way to connect to the current Ignite server.

3) You could make and carry a bootable Ignite DVD, this seems like the best option:

Hi Rajim,

The easiest way is to make a image and burn it on a DVD, check the Ignite admin guide for the steps to follow.
I use this method to create a golden image.
