Hi Fadia,

Sounds to me like the user is trying to start a CDE session. To do this the user *must* have a .dt directory under their home dir.

Rgds,
Jeff

Fadia,

Sounds like it is trying to start a desk top messaging system, which is not supported within HPUX. It may well be that the application that this user controls wants to start talk or some such thing, but HPUX doesn't like it.
Go to the "home" directory of the application user and see what it is trying to start. Even if it has a home directory that is not under /home, it should still have some kind of profile under the application. Check in /etc/passwd to see where the home directory is for this user, then check to see what is there (.profile,.login etc)

Regards,

JASH

Fadia,

Looking at your error, it seems there is now a problem with initialising tooltalk. I know nothing about this product, as such, but I typed in tooltalk into the above forums search and it produced a list of links that may help you more than I can, in this instance.

I hope this is the case, good luck,

JASH

You can check and match user's .Xauthrity .TTauthrity etc files in user's home dir, also match the permissions, I am not aware of ttotalk, but the problem for particular use shows that one of these files are currupted.

Check this link for tooltalk, it may be some configuration problem for this
http://www.cs.arizona.edu/computer.help/policy/DIGITAL_unix/ToolTalkUsersGuide/tt_ug_15.html

All the best,

Awadhesh
