Hi Raji,

My Enterprise OE 11.23 for PA-RISC May '05 release contains both the RTE & SDK for Java 1.3 but only the RTE for Java 1.4

However my Enterprise OE 11.23 for Itanium May '05 release contains the RTE & SDK for *both* Java 1.3 & Java 1.4

So I guess it matters which architecture you're running as to whether both or in the base OS.

But anyway you can get whatever you need at the above URLs.

Rgds,
Jeff

Hi Raji,

Yes, when you install 11iV2, you will get Java version 1.4 in /opt/java1.4. You can always download the latest version from web,

http://www.hp.com/go/java

-Arun

Raji,
the release coming with HP OS may be somehow old, and depending on apps you need to run, maybe consider using the latest one.

You'lll find download links there with depots ready to install:
http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/java/

regards,
antonio.
Shalom Raji,

Java is a large resource consumer and tends to need bug fixes.

I'd definitely ugrade to the latest java and get any patches the site posted above recommends.

SEP

and additionally to SEP's comment, also consider using HPjconfig "HP-UX 11i system configuration tool" also linked in previous page.
This tool will help you in checking your system configuration (kernel, patches) in order to let java work.

antonio.
