Hi all,

What is use of swmodify command?.is there any difference between the swremove and swmodify commands.

Srinu ,

swmodify modify software products in a target root or depot , exaple: adding new objects , deleting existing objects , modifying attribute values , committing software patches etc.

swremove : unconfigure and remove software products .

swmodify does not manipulate the actual files that make up a product (fileset). The command manipulates the catalog information which describes the files.

swremove command removes software_selections from
target_selections (e.g. root file systems). When removing installed
software, swremove also unconfigures the software before it is
removed. The software is not unconfigured when removed from an
alternate root directory since it was not configured during
installation.

Hi Srinu,

# swmodify is used to modify some attributes in a depot where as # swremove removes the entire depot or fileset whatever you specify.
