Hi,

I am updating from mHP-UX 11.0 to 11iv1. no errors till the update-ux command tries to rebuild the kernel. following is the error I get at the end of the command " update-ux -s /cdrom HPUX11i-OE"

Compiling /stand/build/conf.c...
Loading the kernel...
ld: Unsatisfied symbol "wan_com_id" in file /stand/build/conf.o
ld: Unsatisfied protected symbol "wan_com_id" in file "/stand/build/conf.o"
2 errors.
*** Error exit code 1

Stop.
make failure.
ERROR: The kernel build failed. See the /var/adm/sw/swagent.log for details.
Do not attempt to reboot the system before the new kernel is
successfully built. An attempt to do this could result in an unusable
system which would require recovery from backup. Because the system
is in a partially updated state, many common system commands will not
run correctly. However, there are some common commands available in
/usr/lbin/sw/bin that were built archived and they should work in
this environment.
NOTE: One or more errors encountered. Take appropriate corrective action
and re-run update-ux to complete the update.
=======  Fri Sep 8 19:11:52 IST 2006 END update-ux

Now I am stuck that i can not reboot the system. Can someone help me in resolving this issue.

Look for patches. Do you have all latest patches? Particulary look for error messages.
