Hi friends,

We have a hpux 11.23 (FOE) RX2620, with oracle 10g installed.

I have a question:

Whats default services I can stop in the initialization ?

Example: I dont need the sendmail server, because the Oracle 10g not usage this.

Whats other services I can Stop?

You must check at /etc/rc.log, what service will be up when you restart the server.

for send mail

temporary solution:
/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop

permanent solution

/etc/rc.config.d/mailservs

change value SENDMAIL_SERVER to be 0

You can check lot of services which you may not need.

telnet
snmp
sendmail
audio
cde --> Common Desktop Environment
nfsconf --> if you don't want NFS server and client services
samba

Also check /etc/rc.log file and some of them are already disabled. Check /etc/inetd.conf and services files too which you need to edit them to disable.

If you dont need to mount any windows share on ur box u can disble cifs client/server.
Check for cimserver.
Incase no NIS remove ypldapd.

check /sbin/init.d/ and remove the script from there.
/etc/rc.config.d carries the conf files only.
Dont forget to remove the link files from respective /sbin/rc*.d/
