    <description>Have you verified that the syslogd daemon is running.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# ps -ef |grep syslog&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If it is not running try restarting it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# /sbin/init.d/syslogd start&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can then try sending a test message to syslog via logger.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# logger This is a test message&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
