Hi,

I have two rx8620 with expansion server each . Some of the partitions could not see the fiber channel cards. ioscan -fnC fc shows nothing. The fiber channel cards are combo cards, they have gigabit LAN ports integrated as well. The LANs interfaces are detected but not the fiber channel interfaces. At time a message like " Fiber channel card, bad NVRAM...... " will pop-up during shutting down.
How can we solve this problem ?

Thanks for your contributions.

Regards,
Mawuse

Which combination card are they?
A9782A , A9784A , AB465A?

Based on the error message and the current status, I would suspect the problem with firmware ( system and EFI ). You might need to upgrade the firmware.

Refer the compatiblity support matrix of the respective card and verify the required firmware versions.

http://docs.hp.com/en/netcom.html#Combination%20Cards

Check the current server fimrware versions using
# machinfo

or

MP -> CM -> SYSREV
Hi, did you checked driver for your FC cards? From SAM -> kernel configuration -> drivers and see td / fcd is in or out. As I don't know the model of your card, I'm not sure which driver you shoud use for you card.

Run ioscan -fn, can you see some devices marked as UNCLAIMED ?

Yang

few things.

1. If it is a vpar then you need to assign them and reboot vpar to powerup cards.
you can check using vparstatus command.

2. If it is one Npar then you might be knowing path for them. your olrad and rad commands shows bunch of cards are powered off. Select proper cards to power on using sam.

It seems that you do not have "fcd" driver loaded in the kernel.
From SAM check "Kernel Configuration" -> Drivers -> find "fcd" select it with space bar, go to Action put it "in". You need a system reboot to load the driver to the kernel. After reboot, you'll see the fc from ioscan.
