OK, let me get this straight once and for all.

There is no way to get a difinitive kernel revision level for HP-UX like there is with Solaris? Correct.

Solaris you can use the showrev command.

Is there a certain level that HP expects your systems to be at?

Could you show me the output please. I dont have an HP box anymore.

Hi:

Correct. In my opinion, the best one-line description of the "revision" is probably:

# swlist|grep -i -e QPK -e GOLD

...which will return Quality Pack or "GOLD" bundles with their dated descriptions.

Of course you can see kernel patch information by doing:

# what /stand/vmunix
