Avik, check very carefully that you have the patch(es) for the slow ioscan problems. There are versions for 11.0, 11.11 and 11.23.

Scan the Patch database carefully...

BTW, how many MSA1000 LUNS do you have all in all.?

I have two rx1625 boxes to be configured in MC/SG cluster, connected to an MSA1000 connected thro' a brocade switch. The OS is hpux 11.23 with Sep. 2006 patches. I have a proper zoning configuration in brocade. The problem is, the ioscan output takes about 5 minutes to publish the details. thanks for the help in advance.

Shalom,

Just this very day we had the same problem.

In our case it was corrected with the following actions:
Changing the LUN type on the array from Linux to HP-UX
Brining the firmware on the EVA in our case up the latest version.

SEP

Hi,

there is a product called 'multithreaded ioscan' MtIOscan11i available from HP:

>>
This product contains kernel support features for multi-threaded ioscan capability. The product provides this support by enabling multi-threading in the boot stage, much before IO discovery. This allows the system to perform the device discovery operation in a parallel fashion. This reduces the amount of time spent in device discovery and hence results in a significant improvement in the system boot time. The boot time improvement is significant in the systems with large device configurations where a considerable fraction of boot is spent in device discovery.

Additional product information
Product #: MtIOscan11i
Version: B.11.11.01
Software specification: HP-UX 11i version 1 for Workstations and Servers
<<

You'll have to look, if something like that is available for 11.23 as well.

mfG Peter
