Reading Application Software CD

I got 11.11 and mounted 1/5 Application Software CD. I need to install OnLineJFS and Mirror-UX. I can see the files on it just fine.

But when I do swinstall and point to the /SD_CDROM, it tells me there is no registered depot on that server.

What is going on and what can be done about it?

Both of those are licensed products which must be purchased. When you purchase them, you get a codeword that will unlock the depot on the CD. No codeword - no software.

You need to specify the full path to the .depot file.

You need a codeword for those two pieces of software.

When I run swinstall pointing to these files, I get:

xx x patch01. You can type in the depot path on this host or choose a x ^ x
xx x different host.

P.S.

I am aware I need the keyword, and I have it. Where do I input it? I cannot even get the swinstall to recognize the CD.

BTW, which CD is it? There are 5 total. I am trying 1/5 currently.

If you are using the swinstall GUI, there is a selection under "Actions" called "Add new codeword". If you are using the command line, I'm guessing it would be one of the "-x" options - check the man page.

Shalom,

You can enter the codeword using swinstal -i

You can even copy the .codeword file from another systtem and the installation will proceed afer that. That doesn't negate the need to license, but it does end the crisis.

I'd try sticking the Cd in and doing swinstall -i

There is an option to search the local cd/dvd for depots. This mounts the drive and gets it all ready.

Just for grins, make sure the swagentd daemon is running. /sbin/init.d/swagentd -R

Hi:

There is a "contents" file on the CD set that you can examine. For 11.11, both MirrorDisk/UX and OnlineJFS reside on CD#1.

As I recall, to enter a codeword, you must mount the CD (DVD) to which you are going to apply the codeword. As I noted, above, you want CD #1.

1. CD# 1 is mounted, I can see the files.

2. swinstall -x codeword="xxxxx" does not work.

3. swinstall -i does not work.

4. swinstall in GUI mode refuses to accept my codeword (see above error message)

5. .codewords does not work

6. The swagentd daemon is running.

I got the correct CD mounted. What's the next step (spelled out)?

And it still keeps complaining that /SD_CDROM is not a depot and nothing seems to override that.

Mount the CDROM containing the sofware you want to install; run 'swinstall' without options to bring up its menu interface; specify the full path to the depot containing the software; and choose "add new codeword" from the Actions drop-down.

Here's the way I do it:

Insert CD into CD drive
Mount the CD: mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /cdrom
run swinstall: swinstall -s /cdrom
then you can select Actions > Add codeword

Usualy path is SD_CDROM. If you cannot find it here there is option to download jfs from software.hp.com and add additional codeword to register license.
