    <description>Dear Sir,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have two hp ux server &amp;amp; when i try to mail from one server to another...the following error occur..pls help me.&lt;BR /&gt;BOTH SERVER ARE IN SAME NETWORK.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Following is the Error.....&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;From: Mail Delivery Subsystem &lt;MAILER-DAEMON&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;To: root@prdserver&lt;BR /&gt;Subject: Returned mail: Data format error&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The original message was received at Fri, 10 Nov 2006 22:08:44 +0530 (IST)&lt;BR /&gt;from root@localhost&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----&lt;BR /&gt;abcd@appserver&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   ----- Transcript of session follows -----&lt;BR /&gt;... while talking to appserver:&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt; MAIL From:&lt;ROOT&gt; SIZE=79&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;lt;&amp;lt;&amp;lt; 501 Sender domain must exist&lt;BR /&gt;501 Data format error&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;--Press any key to go on.--&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This message contains data in an unrecognized format, message/delivery-status,&lt;BR /&gt;which can either be viewed as text or written to a file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What do you want to do with the message/delivery-status data?&lt;BR /&gt;1 -- See it as text&lt;BR /&gt;2 -- Write it to a file&lt;BR /&gt;3 -- Just skip it&lt;BR /&gt;.......&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;yogesh&lt;/ROOT&gt;&lt;/MAILER-DAEMON&gt;</description>

      <description>Maybe you hace error in resolving server names. Can you check on both servers thet networking is ok and names are resolved correclty:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;serverA# host serverB&lt;BR /&gt;serverB# host serverA&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In case you have errors add entries in hosts file and/or fix nsswitch.conf.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regards,&lt;BR /&gt;ivan&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Also add the FQDN of each host in both /etc/hosts file&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ip.ip.ip.ip  prdserver prdserver.yourdomain.com&lt;BR /&gt;ip.ip.ip.ip  prdserverb prdserverb.yourdomain.com&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rgds...Geoff</description>
