error while applying patch

hi,

i encountered this error while applying ux patch :

"The patch match operation failed to find patches for target software on "hostname" which passed the filter. Cannot continue the "swinstall" task".

any advice is much appreciated...

some more information may help here, such as OS version, Patch number etc

It would help if you could mention the patch you were trying to install. In fact, you could use:
swlist -a software_spec -s $PWD/your-patch.depot

to see if it matches your machine.

and what system are you installing them on? these appear to BE Data Protector patches and they have Special Instructions:

NOTE!
This patch has to be installed on the Installation Server host.

OS is ux 11v2.3

we are having some problem with Data Protector (unable to do online backup of the production server) and the advice was to apply the patch on both the Cell Manager (the development server) as well as the production server...

there was no problem with applying the patch on the development server (cell manager) but encountered the error when we tried it on the production server (where oracle & sap is installed also)...

now i'm wondering if the patch should be applied on the production server at all... :(

These patches has to applied on the installation server and from the installation server you have to pass it on to the cell server through DP .

thanks for the reply..

can you elaborate on how i can go about doing that?...

the patch is already in the the development server which is also the cell manager... how do i get it to the production server also?... should it be in the production server in the first place or just the cell mgr will do??...

the problem we are facing is that DP is not able to do online backup of the production server...

Hi,

Once you have installed the patches on the DP CM, you can push them to respective clients from the CM - UI.

Open DP GUI ---> Clients ---> Select the Client --->Upgrade.
