I think I can create a file system larger than 2TB but so far the only way to use my disk space is to break it down into multipule 2TB LUNs. Then use VxVM to join them back together to get the over 2TB file system.

Thanks, George

With HP-UX 11.23 on an Itanium2 system, what is the largest disk or LUN that the system can use? I have a 5.9TB LUN but my systems insists on saying it is 2TB in size.

Thanks,
George

Hi George:

You should be able to exceed 2TB if you are using VxVM (not LVM) and you have Online JFS. See Table-2 of:

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/5971-2383/5971-2383.pdf

Regards!

...JRF...

Google search for HP-UX LUN size found the following thread where someone mentions the 2TB is the limit for a LUN based on FC standards.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=999528
