Dear Jino,

In order to use alternate path functionality using VXVM you need to enable "Veritas DMP (Dynamic Multipathing).
You can check if the VXVM is configured to use the secondary or alternate path with the below commands. (Note: We are using Active/Passive EMC CLARiiON array).

##########
gva4000:>:/ # vxdisk list
DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS
c2t1d0s2 auto:hpdisk rootdisk01 rootdg online
c3t0d0s2 auto:hpdisk rootdisk02 rootdg online
c10t0d0 auto:cdsdisk ignite_dg01 ignite_dg online
c10t0d1 auto:cdsdisk recovery_dg01 recovery_dg online
gva4000:>:/ # vxdisk list c10t0d0
Device: c10t0d0
devicetag: c10t0d0
type: auto
hostid: loopback
disk: name=ignite_dg01 id=1144225221.24.loopback
group: name=ignite_dg id=1144225221.26.loopback
info: format=cdsdisk,privoffset=128
flags: online ready private autoconfig autoimport imported
pubpaths: block=/dev/vx/dmp/c10t0d0 char=/dev/vx/rdmp/c10t0d0
version: 3.1
iosize: min=512 (bytes) max=256 (blocks)
public: slice=0 offset=2176 len=104851328 disk_offset=0
private: slice=0 offset=128 len=2048 disk_offset=0
update: time=1161615541 seqno=0.31
ssb: actual_seqno=0.0
headers: 0 120
configs: count=1 len=1400
logs: count=1 len=208
Defined regions:
config priv 000024-000119[000096]: copy=01 offset=000000 enabled
config priv 000128-001431[001304]: copy=01 offset=000096 enabled
log priv 001432-001639[000208]: copy=01 offset=000000 enabled
lockrgn priv 001640-001711[000072]: part=00 offset=000000
Multipathing information:
numpaths: 4
c10t0d0 state=enabled type=primary
c11t0d0 state=enabled type=secondary
c12t0d0 state=enabled type=primary
c13t0d0 state=enabled type=secondary
##################
