To install software and patches on HP-UX you use the Software Distributer (SD) tools --- 'swinstall', 'swcopy', 'swverify', etc. In order to understand the process, read this guide:

Hello,

Just use the "swinstall" command. You will have tp provide the locate of the software to be installed. Or ask the vender for installation giude if this is from a non-hP vender.

To install software you use "swinstall". You will require the software in *.depot format and the type:

# swinstall -s /fullpath/software.depot

Then within the menu, highlight the software and mark it for install and then install it.

What kind of software are you trying to install? If it is the operating system and then patches - that is a whole other set of instructions.
