    <description>Your file /etc/utmp is corrupt or missing.&lt;BR /&gt;telnet to the box; and ls -l /etc/utmp.&lt;BR /&gt;if it exists emty it by doing cat /dev/null &amp;gt; /etc/utmp.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if there is no /etc/utmp do touch /etc/utmp.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;with this done you should reboot and the problem is gone.</description>

      <description>&lt;BR /&gt;Hi all&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When ever i login to a C class machine it showing a error like &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;     "No utmp entry.You must exec "login" from the lowest level "sh". "&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;what could be the problem, can you please gide me&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks in advance</description>

      <description>Hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It seems that the file "/etc/utmp" is missing ! You can telnet/rlogin to that machine and touch that file and reboot your machine . It wil be okay.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Frank</description>

      <description>Hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;  I faced this once. This is nothing but corrupted or missing /etc/utmp. The solution is rlogin to the workstation and do this&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#touch /etc/utmp&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   Its permission is 644 and owner is root:root.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   Then reboot the system. Now ur problem is killed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Best of luck&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Shahul</description>
