    <description>Hello All , &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Recenly there was a disk replace ment in our setup , &lt;BR /&gt;for the disk c10t2d0  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-------------&lt;BR /&gt;PVG Under the VG ( VG05 )&lt;BR /&gt;   --- Physical volume groups ---  &lt;BR /&gt;   PVG Name                    vg05p&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c10t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c10t1d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c10t2d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c11t3d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c10t4d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c11t5d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c10t6d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c11t7d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c10t8d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c11t9d0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   PVG Name                    vg05m&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c8t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c9t1d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c8t2d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c9t3d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c8t4d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c9t5d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c8t6d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c9t7d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c8t8d0&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c9t9d0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;One of our collegue has done a PV move to a another disk considering the disk is in Mirror Volume &amp;amp; &lt;BR /&gt;the disk is free &lt;BR /&gt;--------------&lt;BR /&gt;# pvmove -n /dev/vg05/lvol1 /dev/dsk/c10t2d0 /dev/dsk/c8t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;Transferring logical extents of logical volume "/dev/vg05/lvol1"...&lt;BR /&gt;pvmove: Couldn't update the contents of logical extent:&lt;BR /&gt;I/O error&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;--------------&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; After that the LVsync was not working &lt;BR /&gt;# lvsync /dev/vg05/lvol1&lt;BR /&gt;lvsync: Couldn't re-synchronize stale partitions of the logical volume:&lt;BR /&gt;I/O error&lt;BR /&gt;lvsync: Couldn't resynchronize logical volume "/dev/vg05/lvol1".&lt;BR /&gt;#&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;--------------&lt;BR /&gt;LVDISPLAY OUTOUT &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   09773 /dev/dsk/c8t0d0    01093 current  PX_NOPV            00000 current&lt;BR /&gt;   09774 /dev/dsk/c8t0d0    01094 current  PX_NOPV            00000 current&lt;BR /&gt;   09775 /dev/dsk/c8t0d0    01095 current  PX_NOPV            00000 current&lt;BR /&gt;   09776 /dev/dsk/c10t2d0   01096 current  /dev/dsk/c8t0d0    01096 stale&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;From the above output the disk show it is the primary copy  and the mirror has PX_NOPV,&lt;BR /&gt; and the last line shows it is in the  Mirror Copy in stale position &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# vgdisplay vg05 |egrep 'Free'&lt;BR /&gt;Free PE                     43399&lt;BR /&gt;#&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;And this is a production Volume and Data loss will be a Huge impact and  Guide me  take out of the issue .thanks &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Kumar.S</description>

      <description>Was lvol5 mirrored? I  am thinking that it wasn't and as result pvmove did not succeed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Backup seems to be only option.</description>

      <description>RAC , &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The VG05 has only one LV lvol1 &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and that was mirrored&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Will lvreduce (lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vg05/lvol /dev/dsk/c8t0d0) to the disk will work ? ( the disk is  also the part of primary copy  )&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Kumar .S</description>

      <description>Yes. Try lvreduce. (reduce faulty disk from mirror.) you may need to use -k to reduce it.</description>

      <description>What I am saying is try to reduce the faulty disk from mirror. But make sure that good copy is there.</description>
