Hi,
you can't download OS.
If you have a maintenance contract, this should cover your software media CD's.

Contact your HP rep.

Ok we have no support contract its run out. Any idea how much it would cost for the media?

Thanks

Noradanjo

Licensing for HP-UX is a bit complicated so there is no one price. The way it works is that your box came with a license to use (LTU) for HP-UX at whatever revision came installed (11.00 in your case?). If you have a current software (not hardware) support contract with HP, then you have an LTU for new revisions of HP-UX and you can request a CD when the new version is available.

When your support contract lapsed, then your LTU stops with your original version. The media is a few hundred dollars but you may have to purchase a new software support contract and possibly a return to support charge. These rules vary in different countries so you must contact your local HP sales office or 3rd party supplier for details.

Shalom,

Last time I bought the media, it was $300.

Its not practical to run these sytems without software support. HP releases patchse on a regular basis and you could not have available key functionality required to keep the systems healthy.

BTW, its a bad idea to use upgrade/ux. You should do a cold install of the OS. I don't see hardware listed. Most systems that run 11.00 will run 11.11. Perhaps not all.

SEP

Hi Steven,

is it not possible to download the patches afterwards for free? This is a test box and not particularly important so we would want to avoid any unnecessary costs.

Noreen

Hi Noreen,

Yes it's possible to download patches for free after installing.
Seperate patches can be downloaded via ITRC, patch bundles can be downloaded from http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductsList.do?category=ER
