topic Creating OS depots with ignite in Operating System - HP-UX

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of advice. I'm looking to setup some OS depots and golden images on our ignite server. I have no problem with the golden images but am a tad unsure about getting the 11.11 core/os onto the server. I have been reading the ignite admin guide and believe I can simply do a make_depot specifying the source as the cdrom and it will create the depot on the server. I then run a make_config to generate relevant config files and enter them into the INDEX file.

The CDROM I have is Enterprise OS and includes Glance, mirror-UX etc. When I have generated my depot and go to install will it prompt me for a codeword via the ignite install at any stage? Has anyone got a clear process for configuring OS depots.

Thanks

Hi,

are you prompt for a codeword if you install it on the fly?

For ignite check this:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=314266
and how Michael did it:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=700970

You will find much more threads, too.

Also a question:
Why don't you use a running system to create the depot?
You'll have to configure much less then.

HTH
Volkmar
